Not really Aqua class

Sail Date: December 2013
Destination: Asia
Embarkation: Hong Kong

We chose this cruise as we liked the stops and had previously cruised with Celebrity Silohuette in Aqua Class through the Greek Islands. We already knew that the destinations were quite some way from port. This did not bother us as we had planned to enjoy more of the ship which we did. The renovations in the public areas were pleasant and included the obligatory cruise ship decor polished glass and bright textiles. These areas were spotlessly clean and in good condition. However the same cannot be said of our stateroom.

Our room number was 9054 and upon embarkation had not been cleaned nor serviced correctly. None of the surfaces had been dusted or cleaned nor polished so much so that my husband and I could write messages to each other in the dust on top of the glass coffee table. The marble counter top at the desk had a huge crack in it filled with mould and it too had not been cleaned. In fact by day 7 we had to ask the stateroom attendant to wipe it as they had not done More so. We would like to point out that the attendants were polite and friendly, however it was extremely noticeable that their training in hygiene and cleanliness was lacking - which is not their fault but systemic of Celebrity on this ship. Also upon entering the state room there were only leftover toiletries from the previous guests, and what linens were there were used. My first experience was to open the face washer only to discover someone else's snot and pubic hair. Despite the lack of cleanliness, the balcony door coming off the hinges, the interactive TV not being so umm interactive, the sheets not being clean when we arrived, then not changed until day 7 when we finally lost our patience and asked, No bath robes upon arrival, then given dirty ones, and the lack of toiletries, it was tolerable but certainly not the Aqua class experience we were promised.

On a positive note the ports of call were great, Washy Washy our friendly hand sanitized at breakfast ensured the day started off happily and the Olympic staff provided wonderful silver service. It is interesting-to note that on the Silhouette all of the main dining room staff were at this standard so with this in mind if you are select dining avoid the staff on level five and do yourself a favor and go to level four where the staff under Ajay are sensational! All in all we met great people, some staff were exceptional but if you are looking for a vacation where you don't have to use your own antibacterial wipes to clean your stateroom look elsewhere and most certainly do not pay for the Aqua class product which really only consisted of a different shower head and a few nice meals at Blu. Oh by the way did I forget to mention our room keys rarely worked and we had to get them replaced 14 times altogether. Less
