First time on Norwegian: Hapy Happy Washy Washy

Sail Date: December 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

Good self parking in Tampa, close to terminal but $15 per day.

Lots of dining options but many come at premium price ranging from 15-25 per person. Food was mixed quality in the formal restaurant. Some meals were excellent (lamb shank), others really mediocre (roast lamb and the risotto). The buffet was a zoo with offerings similar to those at your local Golden Corral.

Felt like Norwegian were using all opportunity to raise extra money, not just the usual gambling and expensive drinks we expect. This was the first cruise line that tried to sell me raffle tickets. Please: raffle tickets are fundraisers for worthy causes, schools etc. not cruise lines.

Cabin was small. If desk had been slightly smaller, or had corner cut away access to right side of bed would have been easier. Room size suited to 2 single or 1 double bed. Using the roll away would mean every inch of floor was covered with beds and there was a 4th bed as pull down bunk. Glad we were only 2 More adults. Plenty of storage space for 2-3. Bathroom average cruise cabin size. Cabin service was excellent.

Ports of call (Roatan, Belize City, Costa Maya and Cozumel) all OK. We were in port from 8 or 9 am until 5pm with Belize as the only tender port. Did not use any ship arranged tours: look up Trip Advisor and make your own plans. You will save money and see much more.

No informative talks on our ports of call: just the "shopping expert" who actually only knew about the Diamonds International stores located in every port. I'd like to know how many people actually buy the $5,000 paintings and jewelery pieces on board. Seemed like most passengers were maxing out their credit cards with dining options, drinks, raffle tickets and port trips. Who has that much cash lying around to drop on such a purchase? And if you have that kind of money what are you doing on NCL in the first place ?

Dancing/singing entertainment was a bit mediocre in large part because the sound system in the theater was not balanced and distorted the singers voices. Fortunately The Second City comedy was excellent, especially their family improv session. Less
