Breakaway left me with a unfavorable feeling

Sail Date: December 2013
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

My family and I sailed on the breakaway this past week. Two teenage girls, my husband and I have been on 3 previous cruises.

Pros - Large ship,

Lots of things going on,

Specialty ($) restaurants are great

Shows are good

Photography staff did a great job

Excursion staff was accommodating

Kids like teen club...staff did a good job of entertaining the kids

Great parties on New Years Eve.

Fireworks on New Years Eve.

Disembarking was very smooth.

Cons - Only one power outlet with 2 plugs in the whole room...including bathroom

3 included restaurants have the same exact menu

Very little variation at the buffet from day to day

Tendering at Great Stirrup Cay was very hectic and not well organized

Most things are extra $.

Must make reservations days in advance to see shows or eat at specialty restaurants

Excursions sold out quickly (you should More book online before embarking)

On board communication app ($7.95) only works approx 50% of the time.

Communication app should have vacation planner calendar (as on the TV)

Many staff members do not speak or understand English

In room TV has a vacation planner calendar which only showed some reservations.

Very confusing to keep track of all the various reservations.

Wifi is expensive

Overall it was a decent cruise, but I've had better overall experiences on prior cruises. Food that was prepared at the buffet or in the included restaurants was better than average but service was poor. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

This port seemed like an easy day full of R&R. The tender process was very long and tempers flared. This put a rather unpleasant tone to the day. Once we got on the island the food lines were long as were the lines to get off the Island. It would have been useful to have water shoes in that the beach appears sandy until you go into the water and it is a very rocky entrance into the water.

Great tour Captain Rick really knows his stuff and made this tour very interesting and fun.
