New, bigger, and louder attributes are often hype, and an unnecessary reinvention on something that has been proven to work. For example, good, passenger-centered, and exemplary service, w/ a well trained staff.
The Good
The atrium and the light changing chandelier had some of the wow factor I was looking for. However, for the most part it stopped there. The entertainment was good, particularly, Burn the Floor, Cirque de Solei. Rock of Ages was too long and loud for me. This show is inappropriate for young children. The theater was one of the best I have seen on a ship, b/c the inclines on the seat in front was just right and you could cleanly see the stage w/o turning your head from side to side or having to sit straight up in the chair. Siam Allen in The Jazz & Blues club was nice. However, he did just two blues numbers, and too many top repetitive top 40 cover songs, On the Boardwalk, Stand by me, w/some blues licks. Then there was far too much audience participation, (2 full songs by strangers, a Bway standard & another top 40) attempts at humor, some funny, & some not as funny.) Personally, I wish he would have simply played more or let the band do some blues and jazz riffs. Maybe this was done in other shows.
Same as a balcony cabin w/ a fancy shower. No big deal or more space, especially if you have a nice shower head @ home.
