I traveled with my sister the week before Christmas this was our 3rd NCL cruise together and we selected NCL because of the wonderful experiences we have had on the Jewel and Epic. This ship does not come close to either of those two. My sister is a vegan which we already know is going to make her dining experience difficult but on the Jewel and Epic they were able to accommodate with a number of tasty vegan dishes that we preordered the day before so we assume we would have a similar experiences on-board the Breakaway we were so wrong. We had high hopes since we booked through Casino at Sea we were able to use their express line and was on the ship with in 20 minutes or maybe less but from there everything went downhill.

Upon boarding we know from past experience we should talk with the maitre d, we headed to the Manhattan Room which was closed and were directed to go to the box office - seemed strange but thought okay well try this. At the box office they looked at us like we were crazy coming to them and were told to go to the Manhattan Room or one of the other restaurant. Decided to go have some lunch went to Savoy, we were seated right away but it took nearly two hours to get any food mine or my sisters. When sis spoke to the maitre d about her vegan diet she was told you will get what we give you. Okay, this is the first day so we expected it might be difficult but still it was pretty rude the way it was worded. This Maitre d also could not help us with any other special orders as she was to busy.

We checked in to our rooms they seem smaller then the Jewel and Epic but could be the layout. We had Spa Balcony rooms in my sister room to get in the closet you had to practically climb up on the bed to access it was a very tight squeeze. Bathroom was okay but not very comfortable for the position of the toilet had you hitting your arm or leg into the shower wall. The balcony is really tiny, you can't sit the chairs facing out toward the water they just don't fit. We had welcome letters from Laditudes and Casino at Seas with players club cards but noticed we did not get anything on the casino chip and slot dollars i had purchased. Also, on our previous cruise through Casino at Seas there was chocolates, cookies etc delivered to the room on day one and randomly through out the stay not sure if they done away with it was missed it was a nice touch on the other ships to make you feel special.

Cabin Review

Rooms seems smaller than on Jewel and Epic but possible its the layout. You practically had to stand on bed to access closet. Bathroom was okay but toilet was very close to shower and you end up hitting your arm or leg into the shower wall. Balcony are very tiny you cannot sit on balcony and face the water.
