Cruise was wonderful, lots of value when the tours are prepaid, but did not have time go into any museums in Florence so will have to return! Several tour guides (Capri, Florence, Mt Etna) led us to food that they told us locals or they ate at, but prices were very high and food was not so great. In Nice, local food market venders didn't speak much English, so ate at the one place that we could understand. Not much time for shopping or eating at most locations!
Communication from Regent was poor. Since we did not book through them, they did not want to talk with me, just the travel agent, which was cruise 411 and I had to circle back to them... Could not add business class on the trip out at LAX because the ticket was locked. Didn't know if we were being picked up at the airport or by whom, since we had no instructions, luckily, after we got our luggage, there was a guy with a sign. Had to wait an hour for other passengers then boarding was slow due to the ship just pulled into port from Dry dock that morning. We were exhausted.
Terrible fish smell in our room for a couple days from the new carpet. Had to get out and Steward sprayed Febreeze daily. Room and stewards were great. Kept wine, vodka, and gin and mixers stocked.
Guests were much friendlier than other cruises we've been on. People always friendly as were bartenders, especially Simone at the Pool Bar where we spent most of our time. It was the only outside bar before dinner and closed too early. Nothing else to do on deck at night.
Compass Rose service was terrible, 2-2.5 hours for dinner the first time(8 people) then 2 hours the next time we give it a chance. The last night it was down to an hour when we were alone. Tried to book the steakhouse several other nights after we'd been there, but never got in.It was empty for 6pm when we tried to book it, and at 7 still empty tables...Biggest disappointment was that I could not get escargot nightly (my biggest thrill on Celebrity!). Strange never to get the same waiter so don't recall a single one!
