Why should it be acceptable for a 3 night cruise to be sub-par in so many ways.
We are not regular cruisers - but we are experienced from many years ago until now.
And I guess its just like everything else in life - we are told to accept mediocrity in the modern world of food, service, entertainment - but certainly asked to pay more and more for it all in some way, shape or manner.
Bahamas 3 nighter - been there done that before 20 years ago - but so much has changed
We Knew going in that the Ench of the Seas is a Frankenstein ship that was cut up and has old and new parts - so we did expect to see much of that
What we did not expect to see or experience was
No hot water in our stateroom -
Rude and unhelpful customer service people that only cared about pushing the line along and blowing off several guests before and after us
Horrendous smells in the hallways (even before all the passengers began eating)
Meals were as bad as good amusement park food. What ever happened to Shrimp and Crab legs or chocolate fountains and actual FREE ice cream on cruises - not that food is our main thing but come on - its a cruise and you expect to each in excess - but good food - not sub-par food
Even the Chops Grill food was the same fare in a fancy wrapper - no flavor - no love - just a false show for those who are not used to eating at Real Dining establishments
Room attendants - used to be they were cool and friendly and you enjoyed talking with them and felt goo about tipping them well - now they get their tip up front from most so who cares if they are nice or not - they've already been paid - rude hellos like its a chore to greet people -
no more folded animal towles or chocolates on the bed - just get it done and move on to the next room and don't bother me.
Customer Service Counter - (one too many words for this Counter) - there was no real service
I had questions about my M-Life plan since it was my first associated cruise with the M-Life program - and they could not be bothered to assist me on what to do / where to go / who to speak with about issues and kept talking to other workers about other items and ignoring me - ON TWO TRIPS to the counter
I called them about the Hot water issue - and all I got on the phone was - "go in the hall and find your attendant and tell him..." Click.....
Excursions - Jason (- might be Justin - from UK) was very helpful - others seemed rude to the people they were talking to and annoyed at questions
Now we know where the Cruise makes it money from overpriced - corny excursions that are less than stellar - but we have to admit - we knew the location - still allowed ourselves to get sucked into the Atlantis Pass - what a waste of time and money
Bottom line - if you take this cruise - just plan to be on the boat for a few days and in port - just go relax and lay on one of the beaches - don't waste your money - understand the boat sucks as Cruise Ships go - but the price is right if you book in advance - and just want to get away - unfortunately we come from the West Coast - so we had to get a flight and one night hotel to be so horribly disappointed
we fully expected Royal Caribbean to be so much nicer than the new orleans party reference Line (figure that one out - come on its easy_) but as much as they're Mexico 3 nighter was bad - this one was actually worse and we were very sad to say - we did not have the highest of hopes - but the ones we did were drowned quickly
Two cruise companies are now off our list for future cruises
