While the Diamond Princess "stats" noted passenger numbers around 2700 + we were pleasantly surprised at the lack of "crowds".... Even on disembarkation at port via tenders, the crew provided a no fuss approach in our opinion and well organised and emphasis on safety. Having selected "dine anytime", we were able to select from the 4 alla carte restaurants plus the International Dining room at our leisure... a big plus, enabling us to select great seats in the Princess Theatre (even secured the balcony on 3 occasions). Our stateroom valet was fantastic; nothing was too much trouble, for which we ensured she was rewarded during and at the end of our voyage. Some of the entertainment in the lounges could have been better, and not always fully patronised. However, overall we did not feel let down.....
Great value for money. Not being a fan of smorgasbord fare, we did not eat in the Horizon, as the manners of some fellow guests were obviously left behind.... Breakfast in the International Dining Room was excellent. As a novice at cruising, the one day stop in ports was somewhat disappointing leaving little time to experience the local culture, especially when transit times to and from the ship was in excess of 2 hours in some instances... After all this, we are planning our next cruise with Princess... From the "bucket list".... Alaska.... Cheers !!
Great choice..... Coffee/tea making facilities would have been appreciated as room service was not always "hot" when received.....
