The ship is old. I would rate it 3 stars. My husband and daughter and myself had a wonderful time. The P&O production shows were fantastic. The best we have seen so far. They were Don't Stop the Music, Pirates II: The Mutiny, Runaway to the Circus and Centre Stage. The cabin is basic. The TV has bad reception. We had great weather for all the ports. Noumea, Lifou, Mare,Isle of Pines. We have always been lucky with the weather on our cruises. The food was better than expected . Lunch was the best at the Waterfront only open on sea days. Some dishes are a hit or miss overall between Plantation and Waterfront. The drinks are expensive and only used half nips in cocktails. The expresso on board it is good at $3.50. Get involve with the activities that interest you, the time will fly.
The Pearl is the smallest of the fleet and not the prettiest but we still had the best time. Our room steward threw away our Pacific Daily 's and information on the ports which we keep for memories. Luckily reception replaced all but one paper. We celebrated our Wedding anniversary on board, they gave us balloons and a small cake at no cost. Though the professional photos are expensive , they took great pictures, better than other photographers on previous cruises. If you want a cheap holiday, the Pearl was fine. Duty free is not that cheap anymore. You can get just as good prices on special for alcohol at the local bottle shop. Cigarettes your only allowed 2 packets and save a couple of dollars on each.
