Having Travelled with Voyages of Discovery before we decided to try the new ship. We loved Discovery but Voyager has its own merits. We knew many of the Pilipino staff, the officers and the captain. Such wonderful people. We had a welcome cabin upgrade before we went and if you have travelled with VoD before you get a discount.

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. In the footsteps of St Paul and Ancient Civilisations. The weather stopped us going to Carthage and the FO advised against Cairo and Alex. Never mind, it leaves something left to do. The rest of the trip was excellent. We loved the choice of trips, and yes you do have to pay for them but there is a range of prices. All the trips are graded from 1 for little or no walking to 5 which is very strenuous. You choose. We found the guides very knowledgeable and approachable. We learned so much everywhere we went. Some trips were half days but most of what we chose to do was fill days. Meals are arranged for us on full days and often feature local cuisine.

The lectures on the boat are very informative. The lecturers know their subjects and present them in a variety of ways. I particularly liked the lectures on iconography and one on TE Lawrence. The port lectures are always helpful.

Cabin Review

Small but very comfortable. Lots of storage space, good lighting, good beds. Two Windows(not portholes). Quiet, just heard some of the music in the evening. Not an issue.
