Ship Facts: Sun Princess Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Sun Princess Deck Plans
Sun Princess after refresh - good and bad

Previously been on Sun Princess twice - this was first after it's refit.

What we noted differently was following -

Horizons Restaurant update - now on one level no ramps. Nice fresh appearance with new tables and chairs, floor and restaurant shelves etc and repainting. Looks good. However, I guess they want the guest to pay for it since the food has been cut back. Noted especially - no ice cream ( previously and on Dawn and Sea vessels) two tubs of flavoured ice cream every night - now cut to vanilla only once every few days. Also prawns now a rare item, mostly cakes for dessert - only very rare appearances of pies ( apple etc ) or pablova, just cakes. Also no specialty days eg Mexican, Chinese, etc same food most days.

Outside Grill also updated with furniture etc - looks good. Food mostly same as before.

Atrium level 5 - old cake area removed ( previously paid for specialty cakes ) and an international grill added - this is 24 hours so can get coffee's ( pay for them ) but now how cakes ( not so specialty but reasonable ) for free and also has food ( buns and salads etc - but quite good) for free.

Apparently the ice cream area is now open longer also - recommend the $2.50 milk shakes, but ice creams are still free ( standard vanilla or chocolate from machine).

Vista and Princess theatres seem to be same, also wheelhouse and disco. Pool area's seem similar.

Noted no golf simulator available and no hitting cage available.

That's about all the differences that we noted.

Cruise to New Zealand had good weather and seas.

My most memorable part was the last place we visited - Milford Sound - because it was raining we had waterfalls everywhere running down the cliffs, it was fantastic. Thanks to the captain for venturing in despite the rain and winds.
