After looking forward for almost a year to being on the latest and greatest ship of the carnival 2.0 line, it was so sad to find that the Sunshine was not really ready to sail. There was continuing work being done that was not completed before the ship went into service. The decor and general look is outstanding but(yes there is a big but), the wait staff has not quite gotten it together, the room stewards are still trying to get up to snuff on their duties. Room service was adequate but just not very outgoing.I may have been spoiled by an excellent cruise experience on the Magic just a week before. The crew and the staff on Magic the week of Thanksgiving overcame some very bad weather and left us all feeling relaxed and comfortable although most excursions were canceled and water was pretty rough most of the time.
But back to Sunshine woes. The entertainment staff tried very hard to overcome many problems(hurt performers, sick audio operator, not being able to present program originally offered). Jaime,Stephnie, J.J. and the rest did great job of trying to keep us entertained, but they are handicapped with the 1/2 hour shows being offered 2 or 3 nites per Cruise. Maybe the bean counters who are strangling any effort to retain current clients. So sad as we remember when making the cruisers keep coming back was a priority with Carnival mngmnt! Special thanks for scheduling Chris Williams show as this the kind of show we had come to expect from the entertainment staff, not a few 30minute efforts per cruise!
