Ruby Princess Cruise Review by Aussievicki: An amazing holiday

An amazing holiday
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
We caught a water taxi to the ship door to door from our Venice Hotel to the port where we were met by Princess staff. Embarkation was easy and we settled into our room prior to having some lunch in the buffet. We had chosen the 6:15 dinner seating and had a table for 2. We enjoyed the company of the people near us and we thought the food was excellent. This cruise was 3 weeks and many people were on different sectors of it. We have only cruised once before this and we really enjoyed the longer cruise although I did mention in my evaluation with Princess that this cruise was marketed as a 21 day cruise in Australia (not 3 back to back weeks).
There were some changes in staff and the menus were repeated but we were too exhausted from walking around ruins to be worried!! We took a couple of Princess tours which were good (they do a good job organising a crowd), several private tours with people we met on CC and in other ports we just wandered around or swam. I loved the ship, More the staff and everything about the whole cruise experience - great entertainment, lots of fun activities to join in or just watch. Great cocktails, beer and wine!! Enjoyed meeting up with CC members before, and during the cruise. This was our first trip to Europe and it was fantastic. Less

We were on the Caribe deck which had the larger balconies. The cabins are roomy enough with plenty of storage and comfy bed. Bathroom small but adequate. We used the balcony a lot.
Port and Shore Excursions
I had booked the Piraeus Express on line from home. We were met by the company rep. Bus had Wi Fi. Large bus with only 12 or 14 of us. Great way to see a lot without dragging after a guide. Irena told us about each attraction, we did our own thing and came back to the bus at the appointed time. The day went along really well and we packed a lot in with a bit of shopping time at the end. It was hot but we were prepared for that with comfy clothes and good shoes. We stopped at the Temple of Zeus, walked to the top of the Acropolis, saw the changing of the Guard etc. We also stopped to admire the views and other ruins . I am not an historian but we loved the architecture and scenery and enjoyed the beer and food.
We were met promptly at the ship. Bags were stowed under the bus and we saw the highlights of Barcelona which is a beautiful city in the company of a lovely tour guide. We were then taken to our hotel. A great end to our 3 week cruise. We both felt very safe there. It is a vibrant city with many places to shop, dine and relax which is just what we like to do.
Good tour guide and fascinating to walk around.
Fantastic day out with CC companions. Great tour of ruins followed by Turkish feast, belly dancing and music. LOVED this day. We helped fellow CC member celebrate a birthday and the whole day was one of our favourite.
Grand Master's Palace
St. John's Cathedral
The ship was welcomed by a band on the docks which was fun. We went with CC companions on a privately organised tour which covered quite a bit of the island. It is an interesting place with churches, fishing villages etc. Definitely not "touristy". (facilities such as public toilets need attention). Lots of sandstone walls etc. Medieval village of Mdina very interesting and attractive.
We had a taxi driver take us for a quick look around and then drop us at the beach where we had a massage and a swim, hired 2 deckchairs and relaxed. We walked back to the ship, stopping to have a bite to eat and a beer and then on to the old town for a large beer in a boot and some shopping. Rhodes is really pretty, flat and easy to just do your own thing.
