Our embarkation went very smoothly after being dropped off at the port by a dear friend. Unfortunately parking for the handicapped is no longer free at the port and since my DH and I both have a disability we had to arrange a different way to reach the port. The price for parking there cost almost as much as the cruise. We were on board in no time and had a sit down lunch in Il Adagio. The concierge, Patrick was marvelous. He set a level of excellence that NCL should be proud of. We found the entire cruise staff to follow suit. What a wonderful time we had on the NCL Sun. We found our inside stateroom adequate. Were upgraded to a larger inside cabin since the rates dripped considerably since our booking. Had hoped for an outside cabin upgrade or at least additional on board credit but this did not happen. Our cabin steward, Raj, was excellent. Very attentive. The few minor problems were fixed the same day. Always had towel animals nightly. Lost a pair of sneakers in the cabin and am still hoping Raj will look under the couch in our cabin and mail them to me. No luck so far with the ship's lost and found. We love trivia and had at least 2 games a day. NCL gives out nice prizes at the end of the cruise for the number of activities you participated in. The Cruise Director and his staff are excellent. Patrick, the assistant cruise director, is outstanding. He is very friendly, and aims to make everyone 's cruise special. He has an outstanding speaking voice and undoubtedly will be a cruise director some day. He is an excellent dancer as well. The cruise staff and the ships dancers helped our cruise critic group pull off the first flash mob ship board proposal that was posted on YouTube. We called it "Operation Golden Anchor". Despite the last minute change of venue do to rain the flash mob went off beautifully in the atrium with the song "Will you marry me?" playing ion the background while the ships dancers performed and at the end all the cruise critic members slowly joined in ending with everyone getting down on one knee as the 2 loved ones stood on the red velvet carpeted stairs and Brian knelt down on one knee and proposed. It was so beautiful. Tears were in most cruisers eyes. This had been planned for weeks before on cruise critic roll call and everyone felt so good after seeing it all come together. The food on board was good. Lots of choices. We ate in the main dining room all but 2 nights. They serve Lobster and filet on the first night of the cruise in the main dining room so don 't book a specialty restaurant the first night. Moderno was their Argentinean style restaurant. They had a salad bar that also had soup. soup was excellent(seafood chowder). All the meats that were served were excellent. There was such a variety of meats and so much meat I could not eat meat again for a few days. Cocoanut flan for dessert was very good. Service was excellent. Il Adagio was their italian restaurant. Food was very good and the service was excellent. My husband had them prepare a special pizza for him that was not on the menu and it was delicious. I had pork with marsala sauce. Excellent as well. The sports bar was open late if you got the munchies after the restaurants closed. Entertainment was excellent. Totally enjoyed the hypnotist even though he chose me twice as one of his subjects. I never slept so well as after he hypnotized me. Show was really enjoyable as I was told by those who were not hypnotized. The comedian, Richie Minivini , was hysterical. Told clean jokes and was enjoyed by all. Very refreshing to laugh without foul language. The singers and dancers were very good and the cruise director did an excellent job as the emcee. The performance by the cruise staff of "The Fountains" was excellent. The cruise talent show was also enjoyable. All the games that were played were all in good fun especially "The Quest." Our concierge, Patrick, met us in the Windjammer and helped us with our carry on luggage when it came time to leave the NCL Sun. Finding our luggage was so simple and the only delay was the long line thru customs. I wish there was a line for handicapped passengers for customs so the agony of standing so long could be avoided. Our 11 day cruise was truly amazing and enjoyed every minute of it. Hopefully, we can do it again same time next year.
