Ship Facts: Celebrity Equinox Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Equinox Deck Plans
Fantastic time on the Equinox

We cruised on the Equinox for 12 nights in November visiting France, Italy, Montenegro & Croatia. We were a group of 8 who have all cruised before.

We were told we could embark from 12.30 onwards however they actually started to let people on from around 10.30 which was great as we did not have to hang around in the terminal. On first impressions the ship was amazing and imaculate, it seems brand new as opposed to 4 years old.

The cabin was spacious with plenty of storage space for a 12 night cruise, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was the nicest I have had on a ship. The TV was also good with on demand tv and movies, really enjoyed the documentaries about the Solstice class ships. The balcony was also quite big but on a November Med cruise did not get much use!

We ate in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was amazing, anything you could possibly want for breakfast was available, a nice surprise for an American ship was English sausages, English Bacon, Black Pudding and even HP Brown sauce!!!

Lunch was equally good with an amazing choice, Italian section, Asian section (Chinese, Thai and Indian), Tex Mex, gourmet selections, salads, paninis, soups and a good selection of desserts. Heard a few complaints about food not being hot on the buffet but can´t say we noticed this ourselves.

Dinner in the main dining room was excelent every evening, our waiting team were fantastic. The food was varied, of good quality and most importantly (following a bad experience on Costa last year) served hot! Steak was available every night which pleased some in our group and there was always a good selection of chicken, vegetarian, fish, other meats etc. The desserts were very good and also drink service too, we never had empty glasses. Our only complaint was the rude man on the next table who reduced our waitress to tears one night, so off to guest relations we went to complain as the staff should not have to put up with that. We were informed the guest relations manager spoke to him and after that night he was much better behaved!

The bars and lounges on board were all good, we liked Michaels Club as we liked to chat and in some bars music was too loud to do that. We also enjoyed the Obervation lounge at night for a dance. We had the classic drinks package which whilst free due to a special offer for us would have been worth paying for as we do like a few drinks at night! Though also having all coffees and teas included in the package meant many an afternoon in Cafe al Bacio! Our only dispointment was that the ship went very quiet after 11.00 with most people going to bed, the disco never had more than a handful of people in. Only saw two shows in the theatre which was the Equinox show which was amazing and the other had a magician, singer and dancers which was only ok.

We also ate in the pay restaurants and our favourite was Murano, which was truly amazing, excelent food and service in very pleasant surroundings. Whilst we enjoyed the Tuscan Grille and Silk Harvest they were no better than the main dining room so in hindsight we would have been best to go to Murano two or three times and leave the other two.

The ports of call were all good, we found the shore excursions considerably more expensive than on previous cruises with other lines and so in many ports opted to do our own thing. The shore excursions we did do were good and well planned but over priced for what they were.

Finally we definately would cruise with Celebrity again and recommend them, comparing to our previous cruises (Thomson and Costa) this definately is a better cruise line and surprisingly good value when comparing prices.
