I have previously sailed with Royal Caribbean seven times...always had an amazing vacation....the Brilliance was truly a disappointing ship. The service from the wait staff was mediocre and the cabin steward was invisible...including gratuities is a major mistake....the staff just does not seem interested in working to earn their tip dollars at all. The Windjammer had a nice variety of foods for breakfast and lunch but the floor was always dirty and slippery, the service was unreliable...tables left uncleared, needed wiping, wait staff not interested in bringing or refilling beverages, etc. The dinner menus were adequate and dinners in the specialty restaurants were really not that special.
Our cabin had a moldy shower which was never cleaned correctly, the mirrors were always dirty...and we found opened and unopened wine in one of the cupboards when we boarded...hmmm..wondering if the cabin was actually cleaned. The nightly entertainment was less than stellar except for a Vegas performer. The Centrum was too small for the shows that they expected the cruisers to actually be able to see and enjoy...let alone find a comfortable spot to even sit. We enjoyed the ports...fairly easy to get on and off the ship...the security people were very friendly and helpful. We felt that more daily activities inside the ship would have been wonderful for those cruisers avoiding too much sun...and maybe a few more current movies in the theater.
This cruise made me question my loyalty to Royal Caribbean and the need to become an Emerald...trying another cruise line next.
