Ship Facts: Independence of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Independence of the Seas Deck Plans
WOW!!

What an amazing ship!

We have just returned from a 6 night cruise on The Independence of the Seas.....we had a great time and really weren't ready to disembark at the end of our cruise. The ship was huge and certainly had everything we needed.

Our cabin (standard Interior) was a lot larger than I had expected even after knowing the measurements previously. We had two Pullman beds for the children and a double bed. The suitcases fitted nicely under the bed and there was plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe, there was also lots of hidden storage space for toiletries. The bathroom wasn't too bad either.

We managed to re-arrange our dining so that our family (party of 7) could be sat together at one table in the main dining room rather than two. I have to say we had two great waiters serving us each evening, they were always so smiley! The food was great and the children (9yr old/15yr old/16yr old) were well catered for, in fact most evenings they enjoyed chicken, mash, vegetables and fresh fruit, even if not always on the menu. The waiters go out of their way to ensure the children are happy and have what they like to eat. The selection on the menu is really good in the main dining rooms, its a great opportunity to try things you have never tasted before.

We used Windjammers for breakfast each day as was more convenient, this was great! The staff ensure that cruisers use the hand gels before entering the dining rooms which is a good idea.

The breakfast selection was great, plenty of fresh fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs, sausages, etc.

The pool areas were great and we all enjoyed using these, the hot tubs were very hot so nice to use on an evening when the weather had cooled down a bit.

My 9yr old enjoyed dipping in and out of the childrens clubs through the day. We had two teens with us who tried the teens club but found this to be empty most of the time so didn't stay.

The entertainment was okay, I would recommend the 'Love and Marriage' show and 'The Quest' show these were great. We tried a couple of other shows which were okay. We didn't really try much else with regards to the entertainment as it was late once we finished dining.

We really enjoyed walking around the ship and walking along the promenade area, you almost forget you are on a cruise ship. There is a great atmosphere on board and unbelievable to think how many people are on board! We never found it really busy on any part of the ship which was great, we managed to find spots by the pool each day with no problem.

The ports we visited were great...Labadee, Jamaica, Cayman Islands. We certainly weren't disappointed.

Embarkation was a breeze as we arrived fairly early. Disembarkation was very slow and a little disorganised, I didn't find a lot of the staff very friendly within the port both on arriving and leaving but this didn't spoil our holiday.

It was great to see cruisers were of all ages from babies upwards, and all were catered for and seemingly all having a great time!

Overall we can not wait to cruise again on The Independence of the Seas.......the children and adults in or party were so upset to be leaving, we could have quite happily stayed on for another week! 6 nights is certainly not enough time on this ship!!
