This was our virgin cruise & we both loved it.
We had this preconceived notion that in November we’d be surrounded by fossils(apologies we’re close to 50 ourselves) & were thrilled at San Juan port to discover there was a huge spread of ages . I was impressed with how swiftly we got on board as the queues when we arrived looked daunting.
We had walked from the Sheraton Hotel & spotted a long human chain some way off. The Sheraton near the Conference centre was a nice ten minute trot from the ship & half a dozen taxis tried in vain to take us the very walkable distance.
Our stateroom, 8554, was great, in the middle of the ship, we felt very little movement & slept like hibernating bears. We had everything we needed & far more space than we expected.
The “Adventure” is a little tired in parts though it has a wonderful grandness & dignity about it plus a revamp is on the way. Dining was superlative, we loved the all day food in the Windjammer & had some memorable meals in the formal Mozart. The incredible ice show & Motown in the Lyric theatre were top class & we’d gladly have paid for the privilege.
Super staff made it a mighty memorable first dip in the water. Having a balcony was a major plus, great entertainment in itself plus so handy for a relaxing drink & drying clothes too.
Our best shore excursion was a Segway tour in St.Lucia which was fab fun & good value. Clinton our Stateroom Attendant was wonderful & as a local, shared great knowledge of the Caribbean. Our waiters Jesus & Tiger were also top class.
Getting off the ship was probably the only negative from our perspective, we had asked to leave at 8.30 but didn’t escape until close to an hour later. Thanks Royal C for a wonderful week.
