Sail Date: Dec 2006

We decided to take this two ten day back to back trip to French Polynesia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Although we are seasoned cruisers we have never sailed with Princess before, so this in itself was a new experience for us.

We live in Calgary, Canada and the trip to Papeete, was uneventful but long. We traveled from Los Angeles aboard Air Tahiti Nui. It was a very long 8 ½ hour flight but they do attempt to keep you occupied by having movies, and games to play on the screen in front of your seat. Unfortunately many of the movies were only in French and we couldn't get a signal in the English version but it went quick enough once we started playing video games. Arriving in Papeete was very quick through customs, baggage arrived quickly and while we had arranged to take a cab to the ship, the Princess staff were there collecting all the luggage and took ours even though we hadn't paid for transfers. We still took a cab for $30.00 US. The only way to go as we didn't have to wait in a hot stuffy bus while other passengers waited for their luggage.

Arrival at the pier and embarkation was very smooth. We were quickly whisked to our room and greeted by our room steward. After settling in they had a buffet set up at the Panorama Buffet. Luggage arrived in the middle of the night without incident. Our stateroom had a balcony which we have never had and it was very nice, very romantic, we used it a lot. The room was considerably smaller than regular staterooms that we are used to on HAL. The ship is very small and activities are on a much smaller scale. The cruise entertainment staff is run primarily by the dancers and a few other select others. The cruise director was awesome, we enjoyed his humor immensely. If anybody goes, give Dan the Cruise Director our best, say hi from Perry and Toby. The entertainment in the Tahitian lounge nightly was very limited and the DJ could have used a lot more experience, playing the same song night after night got a little old.
