So much to see.....

Sail Date: November 2013
Destination: Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

Recently returned from Treasures of the Ancients cruise from Barcelona, Spain.

Very impressed with Oceania and Marina as it was our first cruise with this carrier.

Prices were very good and dealings with the Oceania staff very satisfactory.

The hotel included in the package was vastly overpriced. Would make own arrangements for hotel in future.

Used the flight deviation option and travel agent arranged very satisfactory flights with British Airways and KLM. Would definitely recommend this option. Flights very long. This was our first "overseas" flight and we would certainly do another differently. Stops along the way, more days in first port before embarkation, would ease the jet lag. As we flew from Western Canada, there was an 8 hour difference in time zones and miles and miles of travel. Very exhausting for us (60's age).

Cruise was wonderful. Each port was unique and so interesting for us as we come from an area where nothing is really More "old" except our Rocky Mountains. So much to see. As a result, it was very tiring. We wanted to see everything we could, so took excursions at every stop. As I say, wonderful, but a lot to take in. Weather at this time of year, mid-November is iffy. Spain was warmer than usual with temps in high 20s C. But cooler as we got into Italy. Still nice, just had to adjust our clothing and be prepared.

Prices of excursions were high, but we still preferred to have them in place before going as we are totally unfamiliar with this area and we were very pleased with the tours and the tour guides.

The ship ... well, what shipboard experience is not wonderful. Oceania met our expectations and more. Was great to have free water and soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages prices were high, but also expected that. Also, nice to have laundry room available. Dining experiences were wonderful. Great variety and service in specialty areas and always consistent in general areas.

The internet service was not adequate. Ours was free along with a laptop, but we used our own laptop as it was easier for us. Service was VERY SLOW! Would not pay for this service. Other areas on the ship were not used much as we were off each day and then tired in evenings. Would maybe have taken in more shows were they not so late. Shows did not start until 9:45 pm, and we were ready for bed by then. Did use the spa, nice to have access to sauna and steam room complementary. The boutique area was very expensive, only very top end merchandise so did not use that.

We had upgraded to Concierge and would recommend this also ... just a few nice added perks.

Service by all staff was impeccable. Cannot say enough about the way we were pampered.

Would definitely cruise with Oceania again. But maybe closer to home next time! Less
