Relax and Refresh on the Diamond Princess

Sail Date: November 2013
Destination: Asia
Embarkation: Singapore

having just today returned from our 19 day cruise on the Diamond Princess, I could not have been happier with my experience. The staff are probably the best I have experienced and were very personable and willing to please.

We started our journey flying Singapore Airlines on an A380 in the Upper Deck Economy class and it was also terrific. Only 80 people in this area and a 2 4 2 configuration make it a reasonably pleasurable experience. When then had three nights at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore in their Club Class suite which was absolutely work the money. If you are looking for a treat, I can highly recommend it.

Our cabin was a mini-suite and again, worth the extra to get the large balcony and additional cabin space, not to mention a bathroom that you can actually swing a cat in. Very comfortable lounge, chairs and bed.

We made our own way to the ship using a cab which is very affordable in Singapore (less than S$10) and the cruise terminal is new and More very functional. Boarding was a breeze and cabin was ready and bags followed soon after.

We mostly ate breakfast in the Horizon Buffet which had a good selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt, baked goods, eggs, bacon, sausages etc.

Lunch we tended to eat usually something light - sandwich or slice of pizza, small hamburger which were all good quality.

Dinner we utilised Anytime Dining which we really enjoyed, meeting new people every night was a lot of fun. Food in the dining rooms was really terrific and the wine list was interesting and reasonably priced.

Entertainment was Ok but not really anything outstanding.

Loved the Lotus Pool - quite and secluded with plenty of sun and shade.

Lotus Spa was great as well - enjoyed a lovely day of pampering in their facilities.

Disembarkation in Sydney was simple and ran really easily.

All in all we were very happy with this cruise. It gave us a lot of time to relax and recharge in a very pleasant atmosphere. Less
