Sail Date: Nov 2013

Just got back from a 5 night cruise on Radiance. Food was fabulous especially the WIndjammer buffet - much better than Windjammer on Rhapsody when I cruised on that ship in 2011.

Entertainment was fabulous. The shows were very good but the entertainment in the centrum was even better. Lots of fun and plenty of opportunity to participate. Very well run by the cruise director. Loved the cake-making competition which the captain competed in and won! Very funny!

The negatives: room service breakfast was very hit and miss. Coffee sometimes only luke warm, some items ordered did not turn up, only one butter and one jam provided with 2 slices of toast, a bagel and a bread roll, took up to an hour to arrive after you place the order. We stuck with it for all mornings because of the convenience but I'm sure the quality of breakfast food would have been much better at the Windjammer.

Cabin Review

Cabin was huge. Beds were a little hard. Lighting in the cabin (we stayed in an owner's suite) was woefully inadequate. Nowhere near bright enough in any part of the cabin to be able to put on make-up. When there was enough daylight I say at the table in the dining area of the cabin with a small hand mirror and opened up the blinds as wide as possible. Not really satisfactory at all. I found a similar problem on Rhapsody - not quite as bad as Radiance. There needs to be a fluro light somewhere in the cabin - preferably in the bathroom - so you can see what you are doing when putting on make-up. I found this absence of good task lighting a real problem.

The toilet got blocked somewhere up the line which stopped our toilet from working. We reported the problem with our toilet and heard nothing back for some time and then suddenly about 2 hours after we reported it we heard out toilet suddenly flush and all was well again. Didn't like the fact that no-one told us how long it was going to take for the toilet to be operational again.
