Compare Prices on Marina Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruises

was it worth it?

Sail Date: November 2013
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

This is a wonderful ship with a great ports of call. My question is "why so expensive?" The cabins are almost identical to Celebrity or Holland American new builds. This is a foodies cruise and the food was wonderful. Each dinning room has a unique menu. It is somewhat complicated to get reservations. Do not waste money an upgrade to concierge level because you receive very little. We asked for help twice with dinner reservations and received nothing.

Shore excursions are three times the price you can get an shore. Airport transfers offered by ship should be ignored. Example: In Barcelona ship offered bus transfer to the airport for $79 per person. Cab fare is less than 40 euros. WHY? In Venice ship wanted $139 per person. Bus from airport to within one mile of ship 6 euros per person followed by an 11 euro cab.

At the time of our booking cruise line was offering prepaid gratuities and $500 on board credit. When we got our bill at the end of the cruise we received More neither. Upon returning home we were told we had a" Special" fare and these percs were not included. All literature and the web site did not make any mention of "Specials" They had my money and did not care what I thought.

Overall very good cruise but not worth the money. Stick with Celebrity!!! Less
