Travelled on the Carnival Sunshine Barcelona to New Orleans 1st of November to the 17th of November.
Cabin 8315 balcony very nice cabin, roomy and clean.
We chose anytime dinning; we dinned in the sunrise restaurant.
First night we were shown to a table at the rear of the restaurant, waited about 15 minuets for the waiter to take our order. Waited a further 20 minuets for the starter to arrive. Main arrived about 15 minuets after starter, waiter refused to give to give us clean cutlery for main, food cold, plate cold, told the waiter who seemed disinterested but did get replacement meals, which were not much hotter.
We had words with the restaurant front desk staff, who apologised.
The following evening we were sat in a different area of the restaurant, served by different waiters (maroc & Silviu) who did give better service and were interested. Food still not very hot but better, the kitchen did not seem to understand the principle of heating the plates and this would help keep the food warm. Again we mentioned this front desk staff. we also visited the restaurant for breakfast and it was not much better, we waited 1.5 hours to get our food, we walk out of the restaurant and went to the lido buffet. took this up with guest services, but it did not improve much during the 16 day cruise.
They also allowed a pet dog into the restaurant, and the waiter staff was seen petting it, not very hygienic
The entertainment was very poor, with the exception of the ships resident dance group which were good, but only did 4 shows during the 16 night cruise. The entertainment was aimed mainly at the American audience. Having said that we were in the minority being only 100 brits on the ship.
The daytime entertainment was also very poor, considering we were at sea a total of 11 days during the cruise.
We only did 1 tour from the ship in La Palma; this was cut short due to the ship arriving late in the port. We did get a 30% refund, but the idea of doing the tour was to see as much of the island as possible.
we did write a letter with all of our concerns on and left it with guest services, but did not get any response apart from the tour desk apologising again for the short tour in La Palma.
This was the first time we have cruised with Carnival and our last. We have cruised many times (20+) and never experienced so many issues.
Carnival need to up their game in our opinion.
