Ship Facts: Carnival Freedom Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Freedom Deck Plans

Had a great time. Plenty to do. We had the interior stateroom and it was typical Carnival. Small..but everything in it's place. Quick to get on the ship with the VIP treatment. We had lunch at Ft. Lauderdale and headed out.

We had sailed on RCL in JUNE, and were suprised at the food and atmosphere at Carnival. We are longtime carnival cruisers, and thought the food/variety,etc. was better on Carnival. The room attendants know your name from day one, and were always quick to say hello by name every day. Let's talk about dining:

DINING: Plenty of variety and nice prime rib. I saw a fellow cruiser eat 1 prime rib and 3 lobster tails at one sitting. Maybe this was his last supper? Check out the FISH n CHIPS above the LIDO BUFFET....oysters, ceviche,ahi.....and more every day. The WOK EXPRESS was great..but very have to wait in a long, long line for service...moves very slow...but food was great. Also had a chocolate extravaganza which was very nice.

ACTIVITIES: Plenty to do in port stops, and on board. WE hit the casino ( no luck) and the shows.

PORTS STOPS: Cayman nice...Key West nice...JAMAICA, EH? Never seen so many beggars and hustlers in my life in such a small area. Get ready to get hounded, followed and begged every 5 feet. The only other stop comparable is ROATAN. We had the same hustle there. Be careful in OCHO....heared a lot of bad stories from those cruisers wondering down town.

1 Why do people insist on reaching over my shoulder in the LIDO BUFFET line? Out of the blue comes this myserious hand over my shoulder to grab a spoon of potatoes. We say some people who refused to even get in line...they just butted in the line all the way down the buffet saying..l" EXCUSE ME" and then reaching around and over those that politely waited in line.

2. Please do no put our entire weight into shutting your cabin door. Cruisers across the hall insisted on slamming the cabin doors full force at all hours of the morning and night. So hard a glass moved on the end table. about rude!!!

3. Why do cruisers insist on YELLING DOWN THE LENGTH of the cabin hallway at all hours. For example....5:50 AM....." KEVIN...DO YOU HAVE THE CAMERA?" This is full voice after doing the gorlilla slam of the cabin door. And at 2:35 AM...." WOW...LETS GO GET SOME PIZZA.....hey...I SAID LETS GO GET SOME PIZZA."

4.When you attend the return guest party, some woman acutally grabbed a hand rail and knocked the lady down in front of us trying to get ahead of everyone., once they announed complimentary cocktails.

5. Pretty tacky on the CARNIVAL BUS back to the airport when the driver announces we will accept tips and this is third job over the PA.

SUMMARY: Love carnival and best for the value even with the above comments. Yes, we will be back.
