Ship Facts: Explorer of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Explorer of the Seas Deck Plans
Just back from Explorer of the Seas - 11 days - Caribbean

We were on the Explorer from 11/3 - 11/14/2013.

Overall we found the trip to be excellent.

We drove from Buffalo to Bayonne and stayed overnight in Stroudsburg, PA.

WE parked at PREMIER PARKING about 1 mile away from the port. Our experience with this company was excellent.

Embarkation: Smooth and quick until it was time to actually board the ship. We got a card with number 22 for our order to get on the bus to the ship. The process was very slow. It took over an hour for our number to be called. Part of the reason for the delay is that all handicapped pax or those needing assitance were allowed to board first.

Cabin: We had an inside cabin on deck 9 which was conveniently located near the forward lifts. Our steward was excellent.

Dining was in the Megellan MDR . Food was excellent. Service was too.

Entertainment: Not the best that we have seen but good-very good. On exception was Norm Crosby, the veteran comedian who is now 86 years old. He put on a great show. I heard many people rave about the show afterwards, however, I did hear some younger pax who didn't know who he was and didn't appreciate the show. I guess it was a generational thing.

Ports: Great variety of ports. WE got off the boat at every port and did a couple of excursions. Our favorite was our day resort stay at the Marriot in Antigua.

Disembarkation was good. We did the express and took our own bags. there was a bit of delay at the elevators. After waiting at the Center Ice for 10 minutes, they allowed us to go to the first deck to exit but there were too many people for the elevators. We dragged our bags down the two floors and were off the ship in five minutes. Customs was fast and we got our van to Premier parking within 10 minutes. We were on the road to Buffalo by 9:00 AM.

overall experience: Excellent
