Our family of five (husband, daughter 22, son 18, son 17)just returned from a most enjoyable time aboard the Carnival Ecstasy. We arrived at the Galveston port around 12noon - the only real disappointment was the length of time it took to board (over 2 hrs)weaving in and out of a long line. It seems that the ones who did NOT fill out the form got through quicker, not sure why. But, after getting checked in all went smoothly! We went straight to the LIDO deck and had lunch - no need to eat before you board. Then, we checked out the ship and our staterooms - the kids had a triple - perfect, two lower berths and one upper. The staterooms are very good - esp the beds! I have never slept so soundly! My advice: Go to breakfast, great coffee, order the omelettes. Go to the Blue Sapphire lounge after dinner, good shows, have dinner in the dining room and get to know your tablemates and waiters (they are such fun), order the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake every night, a must! Explore every part of this ship that you can, esp the front, have coffee in the mornings on the back deck off the buffet dining area, take the shore excursions in Progresso b/c there is nothing to do there if you don't. In Cozumel, snorkel, that's what they are famous for or go shopping. DO NOT rent a MOPED - very dangerous! If you drink, buy a bottle and bring it on. DO THE SELF_ASSIST when disembarking - you will get off first!!! Downside: The drinks on board are $4.50 and up, gets expensive, buy a drink card (children and adults)only for unlimited soft drinks and juices, not bottled water. ENJOY!!!! Great time had by all in our family!
