The Sun Princess may be old but she is not "dead yet"! We had a great time aboard and will continue to travel Princess as we experienced nothing but the best service aboard and our overall cruise experience could not be beat on this ship. We have sailed Celebrity, NCL, Holland, RCCL, Cunard, Princess and Carnival and by far Princess so far has been the best overall experience including our experience on the Sun.

Staterooms: Our friends had a mini-suite loved it no different than any other mini-suite, linens, wet bar, canapes, and so forth and felt that they had their monies worth. We had an outside stateroom with one of the largest picture windows a float that we have seen 10' x 9' approx. The staterooms other that mini suites and suites do not have the "bath amenities" as the larger ships do - such as cotton, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and other items as seen in the "newer ships" however you can bring your own and enjoy the trip just as well! We also had bath robes upon request and received great services from the cabin stewards aboard.

Sterilization: These days we are aware now that all ships are facing the epidemic "Noro virus" outbreaks and the Sun is not immune to this outbreak either.. However, we experienced the latest in the sanitation programs afloat such as no more "self-service" in the buffet lines and bed linens including bed spreads either being sanitized daily by removal from the stateroom by the cabin steward sanitized and returned or completely destroyed (as we saw later many linens were disposed of at port side) as well as strict hand washing before entering the dinning rooms and other public facilities and this in fact seems like it should have been in place years ago as we all have experienced those passengers who wish to "eat on the run" while in the buffet lines putting their filthy hands in to the food items and eating out of the dishes directly so the removal of "self service" and the hand washing was a pleasant experience as you feel as a passenger that no matter what you are experiencing the "best sanitation" possible. It was our opinion after experiencing this cruise and the sanitation procedures that this should be mandatory in all public restaurants. cruise ships, hotels alike as sanitation is never a bad thing. Both my husband and I commend the sanitation process and hope that it will continue and become standard for all hotels and restaurants across the world.
