We left Los Angeles on time on 12-17. Check in and embarkation went smoothly, altho we had to ask a few times for a wheel chair assistance once we were finished with check in. Help was readily available at the street entrance. Leaving was very organized and went smoothly and rather quickly we thought as well. Our inside cabin was a requested handicap cabin due to a problem with 1 of our family members, and it was really nice, large, with helpful handles in the rather large restroom. As seems to be the case with this cruise line the shower, on the small side, is a drag; with a moveable faucet that was always falling off, and a flimsy shower curtain that was in the way. Water always poured over the bottom onto the bathroom floor as there was only a small little ledge so nothing to stop it. The ship has new bedding that is really comfortable, and when we asked for some feather pillows we received then with no problem. This was the first time in our cruising experience that we hardly saw the cabin attendant. He was pleasant but seemed inexperienced as we had to ask for some lotions the ship provides free to guests, and we had to ask the trash be emptied every evening. The room seemed adequately cleaned. Food as usual was not great, not bad, just ok, if that. One of our family members has food allergies and found a problem in ordering as all the foods were seasoned. The waitress was really outstanding thou and every night would bring the next days menu so we could prepick something without seasoning. This was also the first time wed seen the head person at the entrance come over regularly to help with the food problems. So for the most part the dining staff aside from 1 or 2 unfriendly people were outstanding. The Windjammer dining room (the informal non assigned seating one) was always crowded and at times hard to find a table. Food a little below average in there. We found about 99% of the employees extremely kind and helpful. We felt there should have been more of a variety of things to do when at sea. We really wondered why no movies were shown on the at sea days and think it would've helped. I don't really know anyone who's interested in towel folding. All the bartenders were nice and helpful as well as the people at the pursers desk. The public rooms and pool areas could've been attended to a little more for cleanliness. There didn't appear to be a shortage of chairs at the pool area. There were alot of excursions offered but we don't usually do them. Cabo is the only port using tenders on this cruise. Altho some of my family members enjoyed most of the shows they found several comediennes to be a little insulting with some of the things said and not so funny. Entertainment can always be improved upon, but ok for the most part. We enjoyed the trip in itself, as nothing is perfect. The above comments are just some of our observations, but all over we had a nice time. Everyone should be happy to take a trip like this and go with a positive attitude. The employees on the ship really welcome you. Have fun!!
