Background Information This was our ( me 47 and wife 47) first cruise, and first vacation without the kids, designed to be our 25th anniversary "honeymoon". We were with 4 other couples who were all experienced cruisers. They had cruised Elation in 2004 and decided on Conquest this year.

Hotel Info (if any) We rented a 15 passenger and drove the 12 hours from Salina, KS to Galveston and opted for a Saturday night room at the Howard Johnson just a few miles from the pier. The price was right and the rooms were nice. The only disappointment is the lack of a shuttle to the pier. There is a park and ride shuttle service across the street and the group caught a right to the pier from them. We left the van at the HJ for the week and the service was more than willing to pick us up on the return. Best we could do but wish HJ would add a shuttle to their service.

Ship Info The ship was very clean. The inside stateroom was really nice. I was not interested in or concerned with having an alarm clock, the darkness of the room led to some good sleep. The cabin steward kept the room spotless. The ship is very large and even though I experienced sickness on monday, I was surprised about the lack of "movement". It was interesting to see the ships docked and the Conquest head and shoulders above them all.
