Avid Cruiser on newest ship

Sail Date: October 2013
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

We cruised on this ship and were super excited for the newest carnival ship. Let me be upfront, we do our cruisework prior to booking and read reviews and blogs etc,, we have learned that each experience is what you make it. With that being said:

Pros/Loves:

the decor

the 5th open deck

the red frog pub on deck 5

the maritini bar

the italian restaurant

the blue ignauan restaurant - burritos in the morning were great !

Cons/Hates:

the buffet

no bar or wait staff on the deck (literatly had to ask mutliple times on multiple days for a bar waiter, durning the day, like at noon - which is NOT common on a cruise ship)

NO cleanup staff on the deck either, i cleaned/bussed my own table and other tables frequently.

the front desk staff, were not sure if this is common or not, but we were dissatisfied with our room, expecially for a new ship there should not be mold (shower curtain, shower More bench and tile) however there was, I went to the front desk and was told to take it up with my room stewart there was nothing that could be done. There were no upgrades avalible, even if we wanted to pay for one - however it turns out this was not the case. Less

We got off the ship and through a taxi service went to Eagle Beach. We were on the beach for maybe 3 or 4 hours, really enjoyed ourselves (there were maybe 10 other people there that day) and enjoyed the water and heat ! hailed a cab back to the port and boarded the ship. PLEASE NOTE, THE CABBIES IN ARUBA CHARGE EITHER 50.00 OR 90.00 ON TOP OF YOUR CAB FARE IF YOU ARE WET OR GET THERE SEATS WET !

We docked and got off the boat while it was raining. It quit raining shortly after and we enjoyed walking around the city and purchasing local liquor and other trinkets. We watched the swinging bridge as well.

We love the water and beach here. We went outside of the cruise terminal and rented a golf cart from Nathan. Had the best time, however, the golf cart itself was a bit precarious, but that is half the fun. Returned the golf cart after exploring the island and went to Jack's Shack and had rum punch and then into the water.

USE BUG SPRAY HERE ! We recieved a ton of bug/insect bites!

Pulled into port, and were surrounded by 4 baseball fields and thats about it. I had read multiple concerning things about this port and decided to stay on the boat. A decision i DO NOT regret. I'm not sure why Carnival stops at this port anyway.
