We booked this cruise purely for the ports as it sailed to all the places we wanted to see and had no days at sea. It was our first family cruise and we went expecting the worst after reading previous reviews.
We were pleasantly surprised. The ship is kept spotlessly clean and our cabin was bigger than we thought it would be. The ship was very quiet and you could never tell whether you were sailing or in port as it never seemed to move.
We booked the drinks package and saved a fortune. We worked out that we would probably have spent double + 15% service charge if we had paid individually for drinks. Our kids loved the idea of going to the bar and ordering their own kids cocktails and showing their cruise card.
We sat with 2 other English families at dinner and were very well looked after by our waiter. He was constantly filling our glasses and getting drinks for the children. The food in the restaurant was "interesting",plenty of choice and courses, so if More you weren't keen on one course you could move on to the next. The buffet restaurant on deck always had plenty of choices and we usually had breakfast and lunch up there.
We never experienced any fighting for sunbeds !! and always found beds by the pool even at times when everyone was onboard.
We found the entertainment was a bit odd and the shows were not really what we had expected. Hardly "West End" ,but the Italians seemed to love them.
Our only complaint was that if you book the MSC bus into a port it usually cost much more than a taxi :( We paid $12 each to Dubrovnic X4 of us and a taxi was only $10 each way. Most ports have local buses or taxis so don't book one on the ship.
Overall though we had a fabulous time and will cruise with MSC again Less
