So much better than we could have expected

Sail Date: October 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Corfu

We cruised the Adriatic on Thomson Majesty leaving Corfu on 18th October, travelling with friends. We flew from Birmingham to Corfu and the transfer and embarkation were the quickest I have known. The sailaway party was brilliant.

The pre-booked cabin (854) was small but with adequate bathroom facilities and storage. It also had a good view from the window. The ship was immaculately clean throughout.

The weather was better than we expected for the time of year and the sea was calm. The sun shone in Sibernik, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Corfu. It was warm but not as sunny in Koper and Venice, the most northerly destinations, but was still warm. (We were able to lie in the sun in swimwear on the upper deck). All are quite spectacular places to visit with magnificent coastlines.

We chose a private transfer when we went into Venice which gave us a full day to explore this fascinating place. We got off the ship at Dubrovnik and taxis were waiting to take you into the More old town. A taxi cost us 10 euros each way. The other destinations were so close to where we docked that we simply walked. There is no need to book trips.

The food on the ship was really good with waiter service at the Seven Seas and Four Seasons restaurants. It was sometimes difficult to decide what to choose from the menu. Waiter service was excellent and Emmanuel in the Four Seasons looked after us well as we chose to go there 6 out of 7 nights. We had the drinks package and the wine waiter kept our glasses topped up. There are a number of bars on board but we rarely had to approach the bar ourselves, as there are so many waiters waiting to take your order, (even when sunbathing). We used the buffet for breakfast some mornings and for lunch, but not an evening meal, but what we had was good. We were amazed to see people still eating at midnight as we were all so full from dinner!

Entertainment on board was very good and varied. You could choose to see a show, be entertained by a singer/band or listen to a pianist and violinist, there was so much choice. The comedian Don McClean was on board and his shows were excellent without being smutty.

We so enjoyed the Thomson Majesty that we will be looking to cruise with Thomson again in the near future. We have been on the old QEII as well as Ocean Village cruises and overall we enjoyed our time on the Thomson Majesty best of all. Less
