I was on the same cruise as "Ben" who also posted a review. My review, however, will be quite different. First, embarkation was a breeze. We booked our own airfare, however, as we always do (I just like to be in control). We arrived at the port around noon and basically got right on the ship after going through the usual routines. There were essentially no lines.
Our cabin was an inside cabin on deck 8. It was a little smaller than we are used to, but this is our 3rd cruise this year and just a quick, inexpensive getaway. (One of our other cruises this year was on Royal Car. and the other one was on the Carnival Conquest). So the room was small, but clean and neat. We met our steward right away and I asked him for extra hangers - for some reason there were only 2 in the closet. When I returned to my room later, there were like 30. Our steward was great - every time we left our room, even if he was nowhere in sight, we would come back to a neatly cleaned room.
Our head waiter was equally as wonderful. Yes he was a little crazy and he even danced on one of the tables that wasn't being used one night, but he was full of personality. If you're not looking for a fun atmosphere, Carnival might not be for you. And yes - there was even a passenger who chose to dance on her table at dinner every night. I only saw her twice because we weren't seated nearby, but all the people around her seemed to be enjoying her antics and even videotaping her.
