Transatlantic Epic Sail

Sail Date: October 2013
Destination: Transatlantic
Embarkation: Barcelona

We just got home from the 2013 transatlantic from BCN to MIA. We stayed in cabin 13237, interior, very nice linens, pillows, quiet exept when the seas were rough, then there was a banging noise on the other side of the wall. The food was excellent. Then Manhattan Room had wonderful service, varity, and presentation. We also ate at La Cuchina, Le Bistro, and Cagney's for an extra $57.00 each and it was worth it. I had one of the best filets I've ever had at Cagney's. The only time we did the buffet was breakfast and it was croweded, but good. We took our plates and ate down in La Cuchina. We enjoyed Spice H2O, the adult only section although they kept showing the same picture loop on the big screen the entire cruise. We've been on the Epic before, so know the ship pretty well. The downside is there is inadequate public seating to just read or chill out. The lighting in most areas is so terrible it's unusable for these purposes. The theater is closed all day, as are the pay resteraunts. More The gym was overcrowded, hard to get equipment, and the staff was using it during prime morning times. There is no happy hour and the drinks are very expensive. when the bartender made any blended drink, they threw half of it away. Why not just give it to the customer for the $9 rather than dump it? The casino takes up alot of room. We asked a manager if we could by a deck of the burned cards and he said no, they throw them away. The worst thing was the World Series was taking place and no one working the ship seemed to grasp the concept that baseball and football are 2 different sports. We finally got to see the last game. I didn't see a single employee on board from the US.

Small things seem to be slipping on this ship. Tables aren't bussed as quickly, I picked up trash several time that employees simply walked by, and a few of the dinners took forever to get our meals. Everyone was very nice and working as hard as they could, perhaps staff has been cut. The debarkation was a total mess. The pa's were unable to be heard, and they closed off a floor so everyone was crammed onto 1 floor with their luggage. There was only 1 poor employee trying to direct 100's of passengers with their luggage. We enjoyed our cruise, however, if there is another choice, we would probably try another cruise ling. Less
