Our second dream trip of a lifetime to Alaska
Embarkation in Vancouver was a disaster with 6,000 passengers in the terminal being herded like cattle from one area to the next. Due to the time factor of separating passengers onto the 6 ships in port we unfortunately missed the welcoming Mariners' Lunch on board. Apart from this, we thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day cruise this year and could not fault the service on the smaller ship Amsterdam, even though it was a little older than the Noordam which we were on in 2012.
A little on the downside was the cabin on deck 1 with only smallish windows, which we knew we would be getting as apparently every other outside cabin was booked, We tried before we left for an upgrade but there were none available. It was still very comfortable, although next time we would be booking a cabin with a balcony earlier in the year. The 2 stewards were super efficient and looked after us really well.
Our meals were first class and the staff aimed to please again. We always had our table More booked in the Vista Room for the same time each morning and evening. The entertainment on board was excellent. Unfortunately I fell down the stairs at one of the shows, tore my ligaments and the hospital doctor was so caring and attentive to my very swollen ankle. The treatment was excellent and also follow up care. Another amazing memorable cruise which we thoroughly enjoyed and will be booking again for a third one in the future. Less
