Century Hawaii October 22,2013
We sailed Century on this same itinerary April ,2012 ,so we can make a better comparison . Ship does need the one week face lift in Feb 2014 dry dock .Not terrible but shows wear in different areas ,like carpet landings in front of elevators ,stains ,scrapes on hall walls & some rust spots .
Embarkation out of San Diego went smoothly & we were able to access our stern balcony cabin on Deck 12 when we boarded ;which was in good condition, even though Century is going in Feb 2014 for a one week face lift . Then off to a bite ,in the buffet ;which was fully stocked .
After the muster drill ,we had a unofficial meet & greet ,at the Sunset Bar ,deck 11 ,stern to meet as many of our fellow cruise critic members before sail away from San Diego harbor.
The first night in the MDR ,the time was changed & stayed changed for the entire cruise .It was first dining at 5:30 & not 6:00/6:15 PM .a bit too early for us . All through the cruise we sensed a More undercurrent of attentiveness in the service of the dining staff . Service simply was not the same as for the4 prior April 2012 Hawaii cruise on Century. We even witnessed this in the buffet . Thus ,the over all cruise we gave it a 4 star review .Food was generally good to excellent .
Our cabin attendants were fabulous & the best we ever had in 59 cruises ,They were so creative with their towel animals making us a literal zoo ;which we have all the pictures .
The entertainment & activities was very good & as usual John our cruise director was great as always .
June our Hawaii Ambassador was fabulous giving demonstrating lei making with kukui nuts ,fabric & dollar bills .The basic kukui nuts were free & the more exotic combinations for leis were on sale . June organized a hula rehearsal
& talent show of passengers & another talent show of passengers with mostly singing .. Both were very well done & entertaining .Two Hawaiian men taught the ukulele & their was a show with many playing the ukulele
All in all another great Hawaiian cruise ,our 4th with the view of sunrises & sunsets from our stern balcony along with the ships wake . Millions of stars at night Less
