Cruised many many times before and just love it. This time we went with two friends who had not cruised before and we totally recommended Celebrity after we came back from The Caribbean on Equinox earlier this year, so here goes this was our experience
Boarding was 5 out of 5, no queues straight through and on ship within 30 mins from being dropped off. The Welcome was poor not many staff to help guide people, unsure of where to go and the initial experience being brought on at deck 3 near photographers was very underwhelming, no WOW factor
We then went to the cafe, had lunch and upgraded our drinks package,(well worth the extra tried many wines we would not have chosen and enjoyed)
We were told we would not be visiting The Azores, disappointed but you cannot control the weather and safety has to come first.
We went Aqua Class and its worth every penny. all the extras you get particularly dining in BLu which was outstanding. We were offered Fillet Mignon to Lobster service outstanding. The cabin is quite small and certainly not enough storage space big minus for that. Bathrooms are the best ever particularly the shower in Aqua Class. Our stateroom steward Sebastian was superb and the cabin was immaculate.
Now then the Entertainment!!!! What we loved about the Equinox was the music everywhere around the ship but oh dear The Eclipse was like living in a time warp. It really was a scene from Marigold Hotel with outdated sing alongs, Modern Luxury I sooo dont think so. The only decent comedian was Bernie Flint full stop!!!
Come on celebrity look at what you sell Modern Luxury, contemporary this cruise was no in any way what you advertise. The bars were full from morning to night with the same people in the chairs asleep with their mouths open, not what `i or my friends want to see. We want to go to a bar for a drink but nowhere to sit. We ended up sitting on our balconies most evenings with friends playing music we like and having drinks there
Sad when you pay over £4000 per couple
On sea days we just gave up, no where to sit, sunbeds like sardines. too much space is taken up with the Lawn, lovely idea but not practical. No where to sit at back like Princess and not even a promenade deck worth talking about.
The thing that saved the day for us what we took out the dining package and we were wowed by our experiences, particularly Murano where we had private dining that made us feel we were back with Modern Luxury
All in all it was not a 5 star experience I would say 4 star. would we go back to Celebrity Yes but only Mediterranean or Caribbean, why? the age group is considerably different out of Southampton.
I do believe its the same on all the ships sailing out of Southampton except the mini cruises which we have tried.
Staff were exceptional, friendly and Celebrity without doubt offers the best food
Sorry if this offends anyone but I am being totally honest
