Fantastic cruise, to Key West, Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Got to Port Everglades at about 11:30 am, check in and boarding done by 12:15 and then right onto ship. Ate at the Lido buffet and then was at our room by about 1:30. Bags were there by about 3:00 pm and everything went smoothly. Left port later than what was listed on Itinerary but other that that was a good day to start vacation.
Day in Key West was great, got to see a lot of the Conch Republic and generally good day in port. Visited Key West Aquarium and also Ripley's Believe it or Not. KW Aquarium is a little dated and small, but with land at premium there, not a bad place to see some aquatic life.
My second visit to Georgetown, and visited Hell More and Turtle farm. Was very interested in the turtle farm and all they do there on the island with the turtle. When you goto GC you must visit Hell and the rock formations, you got to send postcards postmarked from Hell.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
We did a shore excursion here that included chairlift to top of Mystic Mountain and then Dunn Rivers Falls. The chairlift to top of mountain was great and then the views from on top were spectacular. Then we climbed Dunn River Falls, while the climb is very taxing on you body, it is well worth it. The only drawback is when you get done and are ready to leave the falls area, the exit takes you right through the shop areas where the people are so pushy about selling you something. I enjoyed the falls and Mystic Mountain, but that was just something I do not want to be subjected to.
Back to Fort Lauderdale.
When we got back to Port Everglades, they started letting passengers off, and then everything kind of stalled and the process seemed to take forever, I had a 2:05 pm flight from Miami and was almost late for that. Do not know what happened but if Carnival has anything to do with speeding up the process, they need to get on it. I have had other experiences that were slow, but this got to be a little ridiculous. Room was odd shape on corner of ship and ocean view. Stateroom was great, the only drawback was that is was too close to propellers and when entering or leaving ports you felt a lot of vibrations from the propellers changing directions and trying to stop the ship or what ever maneuvers they were trying to do.
Ship facilities were too small...
Oasis is worst ship I've ever ...
