This was my wife's 40th birthday gift and we sailed with two other friends while leaving the kids at home. We used a travel agent to book after completing our own research and man did we ever get it right. We used the Carnival transportation from the Miami airport which was a great choice. Embarking was in and out without any waiting it seemed and all staff were very professional and courteous. The Boat was absolutely huge and took us by surprise at all there was to do and see on the ship itself. We experienced most of the dining and were never disappointed. We gained knowledge from the staff as to their working conditions etc. which provided us information on how they live from their tips etc. but that is their choice and they can do very well in comparison to their living conditions in the country they come from. We tipped extra but all in we were fair and extra fair where service superseded our expectations which was most of the time. My wife and I would recommend using the main dining for most of your dinners with the exception of the Italian restaurant which was well worth the extra 12 dollars. We didn't try the steakhouse because we saw no value in an extra 35 dollars compared to the meals we were getting at the main dining room and you can get steak there if you want. The escargot OMG ( I had two of them then had another for desert). The food everywhere was fantastic including the Guy's burgers. For entertainment we loved all of it but especially the comedy club acts and the piano bar. We closed down the aft bar every night and our bartender Victor was amazing. Remember to tip them and not a whole lot but just tip them and they will look after you. We paid the extra for the drink package which gave us 15 drinks each every day and found it hard and easy to get these done every day. I would recommend this as this is great value if you don't have the kids with you and you are there to party hardy and don't run out because you get cut off after the 15 drinks period (There's always the bar fridge in your room if you are desperate). Special thanks to Cid and Tarek our servers in the dining room who made us feel special and looked after us every night. Extra special and dear to our hearts was our Casino waitress Jana who never let our drink go empty, worked her but off, and along with the other staff mentioned were perfect representation to the expectations presented to us plus much more. We just can't say enough about the service provided.
The room was bigger than expected as this was our first cruise. I would recommend when on the breeze to stay on floor 7 or 8 with a deck if you can afford it, as we always used decks 10 and 5 every day and never really waited for the elevators and just took the stairs. When we got to our room we were greeted by our room concierge (Can't remember his name but from Serbia) gave us fresh ice and explained any questions we had. We kindly told him we would tip him at the end instead of every day although there is a charge already built in. Regardless we tipped on top of the charge as the service again was more than we ever get in a 5 star hotel room. The fun towel animals he left, the turn down service, and the respect given when we needed to sleep in without any rush given from them to clean the room, we just did what we wanted on our time and the room was looked after no matter how we went about our time schedule.
Kids? You got kids? We do and we will take them on this boat in a heart beat and are already scheduling time to do this again but with our kids on the same boat. The water park, zip line, and all the other things for the kids to do was better than what we could tell that the Disney cruise had simply based on comparing ships side by side when ported in Nassau. The breeze is bigger and wider and knowing Disney the food would definitely be better thinking about the theme parks and the lack of healthy food options they don't offer in their parks.
Disembarking. We just turned on the TV and watched the video on the how to methods and chose the self assist which we recommend you do as well. Seamless. Grabbed the shuttle to the airport and on the plane we were back to Canada.
The port Grand Turks was excellent and the sand was unreal. We have travelled to many places and this is the best beach sand we have yet to see.
The port Ocho Rios in Jamaica was good and not so good. We had a private driver (Personal Friend of our friends that joined us). We went to a private beach called Reggae Beach from which we were charged 10 dollars per head to get in, they tried up charging us to go for the all inclusive which we only wanted to stay for about 1 hour and then they said 3 dollars for a drink and by the time you added ice and coke it was 6 dollars. Then they told our friend the driver to get out as he was not welcome. All in this was absolutely horrible and we do not recommend doing the Reggae Beach excursion. The sand was horrible, you can only swim in a certain area and they don't treat you very nice. At least we got our money back. After that we had some Jamaican Jerk chicken at a local restaurant which was fantastic and made up for the shiftiness of Reggae Beach. Did some shopping and man are they aggressive on the sales. So much so it is uncomfortable. 50 shops with all the same stuff.
The port Nassau was pretty cool, very busy since there were 3 other boats ported at the same time. The weather wasn't the greatest that day but the shopping was very nice. I would recommend renting a scooter as our friends did to tour around.
All in the Ship was the best experience and can't wait to get the kids on it.
Thanks for a great time Carnival Breeze.
