Better Than Wonderful Cruise
We sailed on the Carnival Glory out of Norfolk 10/20/13 - 10/25/13. The weather was gorgeous on embarkation as well as in the Bahamas and debarkation too which is always nice!!
We previously cruised on The Glory in 2012 before the 2.0 upgrade. We were very impressed with the 2.0 upgrades. My husband Joe and our good friend Ed enjoyed Guys Burgers and the fires more than they "needed" too..........we all loved the burrito bar for breakfast and lunch. We thought the new type pizza was even better than on past cruises. Salads were delicious and plentiful and so was the fruit. The ship in general was spotless clean all the time. Tables were usually cleared off quickly on the Lido deck. Never really noticed tons of crowds or anything.
Staff was very, very pleasant and helpful. Cruise Director Matt and Assistant Emerson were truly the best cruise director and assistant we have ever experienced and we are very seasoned cruisers. They were amazing - we looked forward to More seeing them - they were extremely visible all around the ship.
We ate all evening meals except one in the main dining room. We had YOUR TIME DINING. I don't know why, but we NEVER felt rushed in the dining room on this ship. Our waiter IGusti and Assistant Martin were fabulous. Meals were delicious - no complaints. Chocolate melting cake was a little to "dry" for us, so Martin was sure to request WCMC that were a bit more liquidy for us.
Our cabin steward IGusti (same name as our waiter) was very accommodating and pleasant and did a fantastic job. His assistant was great too. We were on Deck one - inside cabin which had plenty of space.
Nassau was great. We walked to John Watling's distillery - we had a free tour which was fun and free tastings too...........delicious!!! Then we went over to Atlantis for a couple of hours. Went through the aquarium which was free (we learned) after 6:00pm. Then, lucky for us, came out just about even in the casino.
While in Freeport we just walked around in the souvenir shops. There were a few new shops which was nice - didn't really even buy anything this time - weather was good there too.
My husband and I enjoy dancing and enjoyed listening to a husband and wife band named SUMMER BREEZE They played a variety of music. They played many requests, etc. We liked dancing to them in the atrium as the floor was easy to dance on. When they played close to the casino we couldn't dance because the floor is not made for dancing. There was a Latin Band and a band called the B-Squad - didn't dance much to either of them but they were good too.............we didn't go in the DISCO......
Very, very few children on this cruise..............we love children but we do try to cruise when we think there will be more adults on the ship than children.............
We are Platinum cruisers on Carnival and I must say, Carnival definitely makes a point to make us feel "special". The staff on the Glory seemed to do an exceptional job in this area. We enjoy all the extra benefits, especially the Tervis glasses and free laundry. Our laundry was returned beautifully on this ship. Unfortunately on the Pride recently our clothes were returned very wrinkled so we were very happy when our clothes looked as good as they did on the Glory. I mostly send nightgowns, underwear, socks, exercise shorts and tops, etc., to be laundered.
We are very sad that the Glory and Carnival in general will no longer cruise out of Norfolk. Norfolk is a beautiful terminal and port and can host very large ships. We certainly hope someday Carnival will return to us here in Norfolk...
We had an amazing cruise and enjoyed every minute!!! Less
