I feel compelled to write a review after reading the latest review regarding this particular cruise. First, not everyone was satisfied, nor were we asked for our opinions, so perhaps it was Viking people who have submitted the review.
Our "once in a lifetime cruise" was a complete disaster. The rain did delay the cruise, that we could have dealt with. The major problems began when the very young and inexperience captain hit an electrical cable leading to the town, causing a power outage but also the closing of the canal, He had missed the fact that the ships crane was up, after police finally cleared us to continue our cruise we had been delayed another couple of days. The Forseti was the same ship that had hit a barge the day before our cruise began.
The delays caused us to miss several of the advertized stops and major attractions.
The next major problem was when passengers started getting stomach viruses and colds.. Although there were a few hand santizers it was suggested by more than one passenger that more were needed and an announcement should have made during our daily updates. The staff member merely listened and then walked away. No announcement was made and people continued to get ill.
We were very disappointed in the entire Viking cruise and are grateful to be home and will never cruise with Viking again.
