Ship Facts: Independence of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Independence of the Seas Deck Plans
7th time on board and some things were better, some worse..

Straight on at around 11am and whisked past the queues so that was good although never a problem anyway..

Room fine although right at front but had a side forward viewing window which was cool and all clean as usual. Food in windjammer vast improvement from our last cruise with lots more choice and proper hot puddings with custard, lack of whipped cream though.. Evening mytime was a little dodgy as it seemed to be too much trouble getting a table for two like they were doing a you a huge favour, 3 times we were sat with other couples which was ok but no exactly a table for two. Service as ever was excellent..

Cafe promenade gone down hill a bit with very poor cookies and less of a selection but still a lovely place to sit for a cup of tea, hot chocalate ran out during the cruise, think it was due to to all the bums grabbing around 4 or 5 each time to take home.. So overall food good and we ALWAYS found a table so don't listen to all the scaremongers..

What let the overall ambience down was the entertainment and moreover the entertainment staff. One loser who i hope never to lay eyes on again is the cruise 'director' Mike Runnerup (yes i know its Hunnerup). This frighteningly enthusiastic guy who was pretty big for a 12yr old bounded around exclaiming 'fantastic' and 'great folks' and only had around 5 or 6 pre-programmed phrases which he continued to bombard us with 5 or 6 times a show, quite scary on disco night in his village people leather pants and waistcoat and was a dead ringer for gay dominator 'The Master' in the Shrien Dewani case. The whole entertainment programme badly needs updating, they are still running the same shows including ice shows which are admittedly very good that we saw on the inaugural cruise of 2008, not great for returning customers of which more than half of the approx 3500 on our cruise were, have they no shame? Even the guest entertainers we had seen before and the singers? Terrible, just terrible..

It just seemed like they were running it down as they ready the ship for the caribbean where it will be all winter and have said oh dont worry its just the end of the uk season so it won't matter.

Anyway the cinema screen is cool but wasted (only 2 films in 12 days oh and one 10 yr old Tom Jones concert) and unbelievably they have done away with the old cinema which ironically would have been busy due to the poor weather on the way there and back.

With Joff back on board and some proper activities (napkin folding?, video editing) it would be much better and the old people didnt bother me, kids no trouble, just a few rude people whe you'd wait for to pass you in promenade for instance and they'd not even look at you, and the bar staff? I advise you to get a hat with the words ' i'm ok for a drink' printed on, it will save you the 10 times an hour or replying th them.

I would cruise again but please RC, update your act(s).

Oh and the little chinese lady, you can't bloody sing a note..
