Disney Dream was worth the 3 year wait!!
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)
We had originally booked the Disney Dream cruise for our 15 year wedding anniversary. We wanted to do something special with the kids. Due to a family conflict, we had to postpone to the following year, then we ended up moving and had to postpone another year. We finally boarded the ship in Sept 2013 and felt it was well worth the wait!
Boarding Process: I loved how we were able to book an assigned boarding time on-line. We arrived at our assigned time and with little wait time before boarding. Then as we were boarding, loved how they announced your name as you walk onto the ship!
Cabin: We had a Deluxe Family Ocean view stateroom. The kids loved the large window with seating (they are ages 10 and 8 and could both sit there at the same time). There was plenty of storage space (loved how the bed was raised to allow storing of luggage underneath) and loved the split bathroom concept!
Activities: The kids had the best time in the Oceaneer Club/Lab and kept More begging to go back! The big hit was the interactive Detective Agency game. We must have done that 3 or 4 times - it was a great way to walk off all the food! The kids loved the pools, splash area, water slide and of course - the Aqua Duck - which was worth the long time waiting in line.
Castaway Cay: My favorite port! The sand was the softest I have ever walked on! Loved all the chairs/umbrellas that were available. The BBQ lunch on the island was wonderful!
Food/Dining: Of course there was food everywhere! The kids loved the never ending ice cream cones. The buffet was wonderful. My favorite dining room was the Animator's Palate. The kids loved watching the videos. My only complaint were the desserts, but others in our party loved them. (I actually liked the kids dessert choices better than the adults choices!)
Overall: We had a wonderful time! It was great seeing the Disney characters everywhere and dressing up like pirates was a lot of fun. Sure it is more expensive than other cruises and since we like to cruise so much we will continue to cruise the other lines as well, but we will definitely cruise Disney again for special occasions and have already booked our next one!
