This is the first time cruising the Eastern Caribbean for us. We have been to a number of islands in the area, but not to St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Barbados. Good weather and some beautiful islands - great time of year.
Things gone right:
Great Room Service from the Steward - He was the best and deserved more of a tip than we gave.
Food was good to excellent. Buffett had a good selection and something new every day. Except scrambled eggs - they are rotten.
Staff - most all were happy, helpful and enjoyed their work. Always a hello.
Entertainment was very good - always something going on - great shows.
Things gone wrong:
Noise - This room was a nightmare. Noise ALL NIGHT LONG and I mean loud. Don't book on 8, anywhere near the back of the ship.
Out of control, noisy, rude, obnoxious guests (PR's). Not to stereotype any group of people, but it was so obvious this is just the norm. Out of control, drunk people dancing (eating area), yelling (eating area), throwing food (eating area), and shouting obscenities (eating area). The place for this is the deck dance area, not the halls, dinner rooms and any where else they feel like it. The Ship Security / Staff did NOTHING to stop this crazy behavior. In fact they seemed to egg them on with loud, loud, loud music that would hurt your ears and just watching these chanting baboons prance around.. The Carnival Staff did not seem to care about the other 90% of the customers who wanted some peace and quiet. Don't EVER embark from San Juan unless you want to join these crazies. This Gang Behavior went on for three days - on the ship and off the ship. Hopefully these crazies ended up in jail or passed out. Seemed to stop on the fourth day out.
I am no prude to having a few drinks and enjoying a party time, That is one of the reasons we are on the cruise - but there is a limit.
Long story short, choose your cruise well, your departure place makes a big difference. Leave from Florida. Not doing this again for sure.
The daily gratuity business is just plain nuts. I will tip who I want, and when I want. Carnival pay your employees better.
