Great Time on Reflection's Birthday Cruise

Sail Date: September 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Rome (Civitavecchia)

Reflection is as beautiful as advertised and Celebrity still does a good job in Europe. The ship turned 1 year old on our cruise and we celebrated with the crew.

Checkin was a breeze in Civitavecchia. We had priority boarding with Captains Club but nobody waited more than a few minutes in line while we were checking in.

Cabins are designed very well and we had no problem with storage. We took a collapsable shoe rack that worked perfectly. Beds were comfy and it's true about the showers, they are the best! Deck 7 aft cabin was nice because we could avoid elevators occasionally. Insulation is great so noise from neighboring cabins is nearly non-existent. Cabin attendant was fantastic. 3,000 passengers make the elevators the only weak link on Reflection. Wait time is longer than on smaller ships. One thing to note when selecting cabin is that grand foyer is used for live entertainment and noise may be an issue for cabins near grand foyer on lower decks. This More entertainment noise also impacts the library and hideaway areas so if you're looking for quiet escape to read in the evening hours you might have to search to find one. Solarium was great on chilly days and there were plenty of deck chairs on sunny days.

Food was great in ODR and we enjoyed Bistro on Five and Tuscan Grill. Oceanview cafe had nice variety at every meal. Desserts were a bit lacking but ice cream was always good. Wine selection on board is fantastic.

Entertainment was ok, a couple of house bands were mediocre but guest entertainers were very good. We took only one shore excursion and were disappointed to burn an hour at a jewelry store in Istanbul. We always go out on our own and learned that lesson again. Internet is still pretty expensive onboard but Apple store and wifi were very good. You can use a quick login app on your apple devices that is so easy. TV on board was great with US stations almost always accessible to keep up with news and NFL scores.

Itinerary was very good with 3 sea days to relax in between great ports. Overall a great cruise and a great value on a beautiful ship. Less
