First Time Cruising - not the last time!!!
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)
My husband and I decided to try a Disney cruise for two reasons, we love Disney and they do everything well. We arrived in Orlando the night before the cruise and stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. We found the hotel there to be very dated and in desperate need of a renovation. We have stayed at 4 other Disney resorts and this one is our least favorite. But - this review is about the cruise!!
We loaded the Disney Cruise Line Bus at 11:30 a.m. and had a pleasant ride to Port Canaveral - it took a little over an hour to get there. When we arrived, we entered the screening area and checked into the ship. It was all very easy and there were no problems at all. From our first step on the ship, we were amazed. This ship is TRUE to Disney standard. When we arrived at our stateroom on the 7th deck, we were greeted by our Stateroom Attendant, Jocey. He could not have been more attentive. It seemed like every time we opened our stateroom door, he was there with a smile greeting us More and asking if we needed anything. He was terrific!!
The stateroom was spacious (so much nicer than the hotel) and clean. The veranda was nice and just large enough, I loved that there were two seperate bathroom areas - one with the shower/tub (which was a good size) and one with the toilet. It seems like a small point, but it came in handy when we were both trying to get ready at the same time. Every evening we were (or course) greeted by another towel character on our bed, along with the next days activity schedule and chocolates.
The dining on the ship was good. The breakfast buffet was plentiful every morning and there was always attentive crew there to help. The same goes for the lunch buffet - there seemed to be something for everyone. If you left this ship hungry - it was not Disney's fault! We ate at Palo which is an adult only dining experience - it was nice. I wasn't totally "wowed" by the meal but dessert was AMAZING! The remainder of the cruise we took advantage of the rotating dining schedule. I loved the fact that we had the same table number AND servers at every restaurant we ate at. The dinners were good - a little over the top for our taste. We tend to be more Steak & Baked Potatoes kind of people and there seemed to be a lot more delicacies on the menu. Not a complaint - just an observation!!
As for entertainment - the evening shows were great! Our favorite was Believe on the last night. The cast did a great job and it really was entertaining - just like a Broadway musical. There were so many activities on board, there is no way you can do everything. The night life was OK - after all, it's Disney - there were many choices of different types of clubs you can go to. The clubs were fun - but we LOVED the adult only areas of the ship. There are some kids walking through but we think they may have been staying in the conceirge level and were using the adult only area as a cut through. No big deal, they weren't hanging out at the pool or bar area.
Overall - this was our first cruise and definitely will not be our last one. Before we left the ship we even put a deposit down on our next cruise! Less

We were on the 7th deck mid-ship. It was a little close to the staiway which could be a little noisy but was a great location. The stateroom was large with a queen size bed and pull out sofa. There was plenty of storage in the stateroom with double closets and a desk area. The double bathroom set up is perfect. The veranda was nice and the view was not obstructed. The room was clean and spacious and the layour was perfect!
