We recently took an 11 day cruise on the Legend of the Seas from Venice to Croatia, Turkey and the Greek Islands. The itinerary was great. The food was below average and the dining service below that.
My wife and I are on our 5th cruise. This was the second on RCI. We previously took RCI to the Eastern Mediterranean. We remembered the great port themed meals, good service and a terrific table at dinner. Despite the My Time meals, This cruises meals were less than memorable. The first and last nights were great. In between, the dining service sputtered with cold and sometimes incomplete dinner entries. We found that a table for two worked great, but the larger service was iffy.
We are both good cooks and enjoy many different cuisines. The menu in the main dining room on the Legend was bland and uninspired at best. The vegetables never changed in 11 days. The starch of the cruise was mashed potatoes with every meat. Desserts appeared several times with only a change in garnish and a different name. When we talked to the Head of Food Service at a Crown and Anchor function, his answer was to ask for more paprika!. Indeed, it seemed as if our waiter was dying to put ground pepper on everything but the dessert. The Head Waiter's answer was to ask for another meal, which is difficult at a full table without holding others up.
Rooms were spacious and were seemingly well appointed with the exception of the mini refrigerator. It did not fit in the cabinet and never seemed to get anything cold despite several repairs by a technician. The cabin suggestion by RCI was great and put us right in the center of the ship close to the Centrum and restaurants without using the elevators.
