single mom traveling with two children 8 & 12, 10th Cruise, First and last NCL. day 1- started off Ok, drove to pier, checked in, pretty easy. Ship was beautiful, clean, spacious cabin, things were looking up!! First night took advantage of spa special, hot stone massage- all good so far. day 2- sea day, decent amount of things to do, went to teeth whitening Seminar with friend and we went ahead with procedure. Pearly whites looking great! day 3- First stop Port Canaveral- decide to get up early and do breakfast in Venetian because buffet was not real appealing. Got in dining room at 8:15, had to be on pier by 10:15 for excursion. no problem right? We got our menus and water and gave our orders. an ENTIRE hour passed before anyone came back to our table, we got no juice, no coffee refills. finally we get our food, all the orders were wrong and the waiter and assistant disappear again for 10 minutes. We had to ask another passerby waitress for more coffee. Finally we called over the Manager of the dining room. she apologized and took our room number. Why I have no idea we never heard from her. We run to the pier for our Cocoa beach day excursion. We get there and are told we have to Pay for beach chairs and lunch, it basically cost $39 for a bus ride and to swim in the pool- oh and the place was a Holiday Inn. Lovely!! The description of the excursion said access to beach chairs and lunch, what does this mean? a $40 bus ride! Lets skip to dinner- I did not have a Hot meal once all week.. It seems that NCL is understaffed, they could not get the food out in time for us to have a hot meal the entire week. So Wed is supposed to be the private Island but because of tendering problems we can not go, we continue on to Nassau. wow maybe NCL will give us 1/2 price drinks for an hour or something at the pool that day? Why would they do that??? We got nothing. Thursday- took my two daughters and my sis in law takes her two to the Spa for manicures and pedicures. we walk in and who is at the desk?? The teeth whitening lady. Did she greet us, ask how are teeth were? No she did not seem to have the time to even say hello. so my 11 year old niece is getting her mani and pedi and the girl asks her if she wants a design. My sis in law wasn't present, they told her she did not have to stay. So she goes back to get her and the kid has a design on toes and nails and they charge an extra $16. Since when does an 11 year old get to make a decision like this? Well my sister in law complained so the girl removed all the polish and repainted them and refunded her. At this point my sis and law and I had spent about $500 each in the spa and they were rude and unfriendly to us! On to Nassau, pretty uneventful except of course another cold meal for dinner! Last port day in Freeport, if you did not have an excursion booked why would you get off the ship when you had to be back by 2:30 and there were already two ships there? Can't these cruise lines coordinate better? we only had one waiter all week even make a menu recommendation, they did not even scrape the crumbs!!! I would definitely cruise from NY again but I will never go on NCL. Their slogan should be Freestyle if you like it cold! My last cruise was RCCL and I was treated like royalty, NCL treated me like a bother.
