Family vacation on the Breakaway

Sail Date: October 2013
Destination: Bermuda
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

Great trip on Breakaway. We are avid cruisers and cruised with our children ages 9 & 11. Ship is beautiful and the staff was great. I'd recommend due to the iteniary in Bermuda or if the rate was great. Doesn't begin to compare with RC Allure or Oasis. Disappointed how much NCL really nickel and dime their guests compared to other lines.

Pros:

Beautiful ship

Loved the atrium huge tv,inside sports tv area

5 amazing water slides!

Fireworks at sea!

Circus show amazing! Excellent dinner(set menu) and well worth $40/person.

Excellent 3 days in Bermuda. Island is beautiful, super clean but expensive.

Get off the ship and buy the ferry/bus pass for around $15/person/day

Excellent beach/snorkeling right off the cruise port. $5/day for beach access

Must go to Fun Golf! PGA style putt-putt over looking the ocean. They have 2 for 1 coupons!

See the pink sand at Horseshoe beach--beautiful beach More

Cons:

Worse food in dining room and buffets we've ever experienced in over 20 cruises. Speciality dining was excellent but costly. Cagneys,Brazillian Steakhouse and Sushi Bar were all excellent. Dining rooms closed for bfast and lunch. Buffet lines were always long.

$199/person/week for use of Spa. Steam room, etc normally included on other ships.

Adult pool area was small and nothing special. Upscale area with special key/access normally included on other ships.

Some great shows but many ship shows in atrium instead of theatre. Very limited seating and disappointed we couldn't get a seat unless we arrived at least 30 minutes early.

Cabins are very small, beds uncomfortable and minimal storage. Disappointed considering the ship is new. We normally are satisfied with an interior cabin however had a balcony this time. Balcony rooms are much larger however storage was very limited. Less
